Bill Lyons

Founder

Bill initiates the design and build process for each new home, working closely with architects, designers, and engineers to shape a home whose story, design, and craftsmanship speak directly to the buyers it was built for. He also works directly with clients, helping them translate their vision for a new home into a reality that exceeds expectations.

Bill’s connection to the industry runs deep. His career began at age 12, sweeping jobsites and learning the trade alongside his father, a developer in southern California. He went on to frame custom homes while attending college in Utah before transferring to the University of Denver, where he earned a degree in business. During that time, he simultaneously helped manage the customer service department for his father’s development company, gaining firsthand insight into what clients truly value.

After earning his general contractor and real estate brokerage licenses, Bill stepped into his own as a developer, overseeing the planning, land development, and construction of hundreds of condominiums and single-family homes throughout the Denver area.

In 2008, Bill founded Devex Properties. Over the following five years, he successfully “fix and flipped”  more than 200 properties before evolving into a boutique builder, crafting speculative homes in some of Denver’s most sought-after and up-and-coming neighborhoods. Over the course of his career, Bill has helmed the construction of more than 1,000 homes, bringing enduring passion and exacting standards to every project.

Outside of work, Bill is a deeply committed member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and finds great fulfillment in serving his community. He treasures time with his wife, five children, and grandson, and stays active through endurance sports, summiting Colorado mountain peaks, and flying.

Monte Struhar

Superintendent

Monte started his construction career at a young age in Cleveland Ohio with a grandfather who was a land developer and a father who was a custom home builder. When he moved to Colorado in 1978, he took his knowledge throughout the United States in commercial construction from retail to restaurants. Returning to Colorado, he spent time in the high-end furniture industry, then returned to the custom home building field working in the Denver metro area.

Monte’s passion of construction, helps him stay current with new materials and processes, along with striving for the best results from contractors to ensure the highest quality possible.

Outside of work Monte continues his passion for woodworking and music, helps family and friends with remodels, and enjoys traveling with his wife and extended family.

Dena Shelton

Controller

Dena is a dedicated and skilled accounting professional with 30+ years of experience. Over the course of her career, she has held a variety of accounting positions including controller for ad agencies, a high-definition television network, and financial analyst at Borders Bookstore.

Throughout the years, Dena discovered that her passion lay in working with small businesses. She now specializes in assisting them in organizing their financial records, establishing efficient procedures and practicing informative reporting. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Metropolitan State University with a B.S. in Accounting. She is also an avid practitioner of yoga, foodie and Netflix junkie!

Shane Hunt

Construction Manager

Shane started his construction career in 1996 with Writer Homes as a laborer and quickly climbed the ladder to assistant superintendent and then to Superintendent after just a couple of years. Shane worked with Writer Homes for 10 years all over the Denver metro area, and was involved in the TV show, Extreme Makeover, building and remodeling homes for some families in Arvada.

Shane left Writer Homes to pursue a passion in custom home building and his first project was a show home in the Parade of Homes.  One of Shane’s favorite projects was The Allen Residents that won a Bar Award for custom home of the year. Shane continues to pursue his passion of building custom homes today as a valued member of the Devex team.

When Shane is not working, he loves spending time with his two teenage girls, enjoys time in the mountains camping with his family and friends and he enjoys live music.
